(the recipients are not aware that he has sent the text to anyone but them) If he gets more than one response, he replies to his preferred option. The non-commital nature of the question makes it difficult for any of the unchosen options to accuse him of any wrongdoing.

Girl number two is first to respond with "not much, what about you?"
But before he can respond, girl number one (his preferred option) replies! She says "I'm free, wanna catch up?'
