In games, a critical hit that occurs redundantly and in which a normal hit would have been just as effective.
These are often annoying or frustrating in a game where critical hits are rare and/or generally out of the player's control/influence.
Yeah, I was battling a trainer in Pokemon and I got a pointless crit when their Pokemon's HP was pretty low. I could've used it at any other point but RNGesus chose now of all times.
When someone on a forum or chat room points out, redundantly, something blatantly obvious, only to show off how hip and up to date they are.
