slangspam

N. Addition of redundant definitions to UrbanDictionary.com for popular terms that already have many other, superior definitions available. Generally performed in an effort to boost the submitter's ego or to appear witty, slangspam generally backfires due to the low quality of most duplicate entries.

Though "cowbell" was already suitably defined several times, Maxwell decided that his definition, being "a bell that you hang from a cow lol," was superior, and as such he engaged in an act of slangspam by submitting it to UD.
It was later shot down by editors.

enlightning

N. An occurrence in which one is essentially struck dumb by the revelation or comprehension of a previosuly-unknown fact. Misspelling of the common word "enlightening" is here intentional.
Generally used in the form "struck by enlightning."

cherry cola effect

N. The sudden craving of a certain thing, esp. types of food or drink, as a result of a seemingly random mention of it in the affected person's range of hearing.
Named after several songs that mention cherry cola.

After hearing the word "wasabi" in the song "One Week," by Barenaked Ladies, Andrew suddenly desired sushi above all else, even though it wasn't particularly a favorite food of his. He wisely attributed the craving to the cherry cola effect.

demicide

N. Describes events in which someone injured him- or herself notably while doing something rather stupid. Used like "suicide," but for events which were not lethal (perhaps by a stroke of luck). Generally also only used when the injury was sustained as a consequence of an intentional act, rather than sheer accident following a somewhat amusing streak of bad luck.

Mike committed demicide by attempting to stand up on his bike pedals as he went over the speed bump. He was fortunate to have survived the event, but his friends later wondered if he had a death wish, or was merely being an idiot.

Bummer City, Batman

A phrase which denotes an unfortunate occurrence, about which little can be done or which has no simple remedy.

"Someone just dropped my wallet into the sewer main!"
"Bummer City, Batman."

soupernova

N. Used to describe a veritable explosion of a liquid of some sort, esp. one such substance knocked over vehemently by accident.

"Man, I tripped while I was carrying that fistful o' brewskis--it went soupernova on everyone!"

thesauric collision

N. Describes the fairly common occurrence amongst literate types, in which two synonymous or near-synonymous words are spoken somewhat atop each other, resulting in the creation of such phrases as "dramastic", "grood," and "for suretain." While these phrases have been used intentionally, true thesauric collisions only result from accidental construction of such phrases.

While Leeroy was at the cocktail party, he accidentally subjected the words "sweet" and "nice" to a thesauric collision, and thus told the Swedish ambassador to the UN that his expensive new martini glass was "swice."
