a keen run

a swift running

He tiptoed his way cautiously among the trees till he felt that he was out of hearing, and straightway broke into a keen run in the direction of the sandbar.

Keen as mustard

To be very keen on something; to be particularly interested in, or looking forward to something

I hear the meat pie eating competition is on this weekend, and Trac is going to take part. Mate I am keen as mustard to go watch!

Keene

A *very* small town in north-country NY. Many of the trailheads that service the 46 High Peaks of the Adirondack Park are located here, as well as the highest point in New York State! (Mt. Marcy). We have an old population, one central school that serves grades K-12, one pre-school, one tiny grocery store, a hardware store, an outdoor gear store, a bike shop, two maybe three churches, a garden center, an arts center, one convenience store, two libraries, two firehouses, and to many Subaru Outbacks! There aren't many places to eat here, at least in the winter, and our economy is almost entirely based on tourism.

Teens here have nothing to do, they tend to have poor mental health as a result. It's very pretty here, but it also gets real cold. You can only really hike or rock climb because there isn't much land that isn't either wilderness, obnoxiously steep, or privately owned. So we go to Lake Placid, Wilmington, Jay, Saranac Lake etc for skiing and mtn. biking and such. We're quite liberal considering the part of the state we live in.

I don't think we're famous for anything, but John Brown's farm is just up the road in North Elba (basically Lake Placid). Russel Banks (a writer) lives here half the year. Ohh yeah, our airfield, Marcy Field, served as a parking lot for the 1980 Winter Olympics :D. Also, we have a farmer's market and small concerts there weekly in the summer. And a pride parade, which I think is pretty impressive considering our size.

P1: "Yeah I'm from New York"
P2: "Ah, so you're a city person"
P1: "No no, upstate New York"
P2: "...what?"
P1: "Like where Albany is...?"
P2: "Oh yeahhh, but where upstate?"
P1: "Keene"
P2: "I've never heard of that"
P1: "near Lake Placid"
P2: "Like the movie?"
P1: "No, they hosted the Olympics, it's Lana Del Rey's hometown etc. etc."
P2: "Ohhhhh I know where that is.. It's weird, you don't seem like a hick"
P1: *sigh*
